The fifth challenge of the 2022 Series will be a 3-day challenge celebrating the day that our arbitrary measurement units for the Earth's rotation align to numerically resemble the fraction 22/7, which approximates the value of the infamous circle constant 'pi' with an error of 400ppm! Honestly, I'm not sure why March 14th gets all the love -- 3.14 is a much worse approximation for pi! The challenge will be offered on the PPS-LLR application, beginning 22 July 22:00 UTC and ending 25 July 22:00 UTC. To participate in the Challenge, please select only the Proth Prime Search LLR (PPS) project in your PrimeGrid preferences section. A vaccine for COVID-19 developed at the University of Washington School of Medicine has been approved by the Korean Ministry of Food and Drug Safety for use in individuals 18 years of age and older. The vaccine, now known as SKYCovione, was found to be more effective than the Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine sold under the brand names Covishield and Vaxzevria.

SK bioscience, the company leading the SKYCovione’s clinical development abroad, is now seeking approval for its use in the United Kingdom and beyond. If approved by the World Health Organization, the vaccine will be made available through COVAX, an international effort to equitably distribute COVID-19 vaccines around the world. In addition, the South Korean government has agreed to purchase 10 million doses for domestic use.

The Seattle scientists behind the new vaccine sought to create a ‘second-generation’ COVID-19 vaccine that is safe, effective at low doses, simple to manufacture, and stable without deep freezing. These attributes could enable vaccination at a global scale by reaching people in areas where medical, transportation, and storage resources are limited.

“We know more than two billion people worldwide have not received a single dose of vaccine,” said David Veesler, associate professor of biochemistry at UW School of Medicine and co-developer of the vaccine. “If our vaccine is distributed through COVAX, it will allow it to reach people who need access.”

The University of Washington is licensing the vaccine technology royalty-free for the duration of the pandemic.

To help increase interest in the project, I am creating a new badge based on fields counts, and tuned especially towards subfield 7. If this works well, I will also create separate badges for the other subfields.

I already put the hooks in to keep tract of the field counts for sf7. Now it's just a matter of creating the badge images, etc. Hopefully that should be done in the next several days.

There will be an update for all 64bit llr apps shortly. Its based on the apps which PG is using and will benefit from the Gerbicz check. The speed is a little bit slower. Its based on llr3.8.23 with gwnum 30.4
